Players beating up the fans
The Evra attack made me think what on earth was the cause.

I once played in a Kent Floodlight League game where most of the Gravesend and Northfleet players attacked their own fans.

Apart from Sunday morning pub football have you ever witnessed such events?

What a fucking coward Evra is. Sneaks up, kicks some cunt in the face and then pretty much runs away.

The geezer's been a wrong'un forever. All over now though. Can't see him ever playing for Marseille again after that.

Re: Players beating up the fans
Yeah a few times playing... best one was Shoebury Old Boys... our centre midfielder from Islington sparked out their gobby centre forward who thought he was the bee's knee's and itstarted off a pitch invasion by his old man and about 25 of their mates/fans... we formed a square like you had at Waterloo... one bloke came at us with a fucking brolly like the toff in the Kingsman... mental mob that lot from Shoebury... used to have a flag with `Welcome to hell' waved in your face as you came out of the changing room...

Eggbert

Excellent examples

The Kingstonian example was very reminiscent of my Gravesend and Northfleet experience.
Except then it was the centre forward disappearing in to his own fans at the end of a game in which they just won 3-1.
Our manager had warned us to keep an eye on him as he was a nutter. Who had just come from Chelmsford.
I thought he was referrig to Chelmsford City FC

It turned out to be Chelmsford Prison!

Co incidentally I once lost 3-!1 at Kingstonians in the first round proper of the FA Cup.
No violence that day just another loss.

Don't tell me although they gave you know problems they were prone to "nick it" in injury time! :)

East... apparently a few year earlier before we started playing them they had Tony Adams managing them (when he got locked inside for hitting that brick wall when he was pissed)...

Why does he kick him as well? Whose instinctive reaction to getting grief is to kick someone in the head??

Must be a French thing

Maybe Evra will end up coaching in Marseilles Prison for what looked at least a charge of ABH (or the French equivalent) for that attack on his own supporter, probably not though.

However if he does obviously it will the Mercredi League

Re: Players beating up the fans
I thought the Cantona one was quite eye opening at the time. I remember the bloke he did it to saying he ran down the stairs to tell him to politely hurry up and leave the field of play. We all know that he must have said F**k off you French c**t and I thought what Cantona did he had coming. Just because you are a professional footballer does not mean you are not entitled to right of reply. The best bit for me was the punch he caught him with, what a peach. There are some players you just don't mess with and he was one of them. I was at the QPR game in the 80s in the cup when they let a load of us pay on the day at the all ticket game. You should all remember the one that got delayed as we spilled onto the pitch and had to get a view from wherever possible. I ended up on the away dugout roof and some hammer was giving Mark Dennis a load of grief. He was a hardman back in the day and not playing but standing on the touchline and he turned round and offered the bloke out. Never seen anyone shut up so quick.

'There are some players you just don't mess with and he was one of them."

Cantona ? Really ? Massive bender for me. The best thing the French ever did was to get rid of the likes of him and Ginola after they lost to Bulgaria in '94. Deschamps and Zidane wouldn't have either of the cunts near the place. Went on to win the World Cup with neither a striker nor a manager worthy of the name.

Hence why Deschamps won't allow Benzema, Nasri or Ben Arfa near his squad.

Re: Players beating up the fans
Mart O, fair point about France but Cantona for 1m from Leeds has to be the deal of the century surely. I think people like him who are just not all there are much more frightening than some of the so called hard men.
